Page is 4+ clicks from the homepage
depth_too_deepShort answer
The shortest crawlable path from the home page to this page is four clicks or more. Google does not penalise depth, but deep pages are crawled less often, get less internal PageRank and are found later after changes. If the page matters, link to it from somewhere closer to the top: a category page, the menu, a hub, or related-content blocks on pages that already rank.
Why it matters
Internal links are how Google discovers pages and judges their relative importance within a site. A page reachable only through category → subcategory → page 5 of a list → item is telling Google it is unimportant — regardless of how good it is. On the SEO map the Structure panel shows how much of the site sits at depth 4+; when it is a whole section, the fix is navigation, not individual links.
How Glimana detects it
Depth is the shortest path in clicks from the home page following crawlable internal links (navigation included, pagination included). The rule fires for indexable pages at depth 4 or more. Pages that cannot be reached from the home page at all have no depth and are reported under Orphan page or in the SEO map's unreachable list instead.
How to fix it
- Find the affected pages in Glimana. Open Issues › Page is 4+ clicks from the homepage. Every affected page is a row; open one to see the evidence Glimana recorded for it (the measured value, the offending element or the target URL). The same list sits on the task card under Tasks, and the page's own detail view under Pages shows its full signals.
-
Apply the fix on your platform.
Work from the SEO map: the affected pages are listed with their current depth and the task's evidence shows the 28-day clicks per page, so you can prioritise.
- Add the section to the main menu or a footer menu.
- Show more items per archive page (Settings → Reading) so pagination is shallower.
- Use a "related posts" block that links across the section.
- Build hub pages for important topics that link to every article in the topic.
- Add collections to the main menu and nested menus.
- Raise products per collection page in the theme settings.
- Use "related products" and "complete the look" blocks.
- Audit the link graph (export the Pages screen with the Int. PR and depth columns).
- Add HTML links (not JavaScript click handlers) from hubs; keep pagination crawlable.
-
Publish and clear caches. Save and publish, then make sure the crawler will see the new version: WordPress — clear the page cache in your cache plugin and purge the CDN; Shopify — theme and content changes go live on save, but purge any CDN in front of the store; custom code — deploy and purge the edge cache. Check in a private window or with
curl -s https://your-domain/page | grep -i '<title\|canonical\|robots'that the live HTML has changed; Glimana reads what the server sends, not what your browser has cached. - Verify in Glimana. Open the task under Tasks and click Mark as done. The affected pages are queued for a verification crawl within a few hours, and the task closes when the affected pages are within three clicks. If the check still fails, the task returns to New with a note; when it passes, the task is listed under Resolved technical issues on Impact reports. To check sooner, use Re-crawl affected pages on the issue.
How the fix is verified
The next crawl recomputes depth; the task closes when the affected pages are within three clicks.
