Short answer

This indexable page is at least two clicks from the home page but has no breadcrumb markup. BreadcrumbList lets Google show the page's position in your hierarchy (Home › Category › Page) in place of the raw URL on desktop results, and helps it understand which section the page belongs to. This issue affects rich results in search; it is not a ranking factor. Add a visible breadcrumb trail and the matching schema on deeper pages.

Why it matters

Breadcrumbs serve users (where am I, how do I go up one level) and search engines (site structure, internal links to category pages). Google removed breadcrumb display from mobile results in 2024 but still uses the markup for desktop display and for understanding hierarchy.

How Glimana detects it

The rule fires for an indexable page with crawl depth ≥ 2 that has no breadcrumb structured data and no recognisable breadcrumb navigation. Home pages and first-level pages are exempt.

How to fix it

  1. Find the affected pages in Glimana. Open Issues › No BreadcrumbList schema. Every affected page is a row; open one to see the evidence Glimana recorded for it (the measured value, the offending element or the target URL). The same list sits on the task card under Tasks, and the page's own detail view under Pages shows its full signals.
  2. Apply the fix on your platform.

    {
      "@context": "https://schema.org",
      "@type": "BreadcrumbList",
      "itemListElement": [
        {"@type": "ListItem", "position": 1, "name": "Home", "item": "https://example.com/"},
        {"@type": "ListItem", "position": 2, "name": "Guides", "item": "https://example.com/guides/"},
        {"@type": "ListItem", "position": 3, "name": "Breadcrumbs"}
      ]
    }

    Yoast, Rank Math and most themes have a breadcrumb option that outputs both the visible trail and the schema; enable it under the SEO plugin's Breadcrumbs settings and place the breadcrumb block in the template (or let the theme do it).

    Dawn does not ship breadcrumbs. Add a breadcrumb snippet to the product and collection templates and include a BreadcrumbList JSON-LD block built from collection.title and product.title.

    Render the trail from your route hierarchy and emit JSON-LD with itemListElement entries, each with position, name and item (the URL); the last item may omit item.

  3. Publish and clear caches. Save and publish, then make sure the crawler will see the new version: WordPress — clear the page cache in your cache plugin and purge the CDN; Shopify — theme and content changes go live on save, but purge any CDN in front of the store; custom code — deploy and purge the edge cache. Check in a private window or with curl -s https://your-domain/page | grep -i '<title\|canonical\|robots' that the live HTML has changed; Glimana reads what the server sends, not what your browser has cached.

  4. Verify in Glimana. Open the task under Tasks and click Mark as done. The affected pages are queued for a verification crawl within a few hours, and the task closes when the page has BreadcrumbList markup. If the check still fails, the task returns to New with a note; when it passes, the task is listed under Resolved technical issues on Impact reports. To check sooner, use Re-crawl affected pages on the issue.

How the fix is verified

Re-crawl; the task closes when the page has BreadcrumbList markup.
